Worrying derailment investigation

Commenting on the investigation into the freight train derailment in Ayrshire in January 2009, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes said:

“This is an extremely worrying finding. I am concerned that the last detailed examination of this bridge was in 2003.

“Network Rail must urgently review how often it monitors the structural integrity of bridges to prevent a repeat.”
