Free prescriptions should not be priority

Commenting on regulations set down in the Scottish Parliament today which go one step closer towards free prescriptions for all, Liberal Democrat Health spokesman Ross Finnie MSP said:

“In the current economic climate, our priority should not be to extend reduced or free prescriptions to all.

“The Liberal Democrats’ priority is to ensure that those with long term conditions get their prescriptions for free. But the taxpayer should not pay for those who can afford to pay for their prescriptions themselves.”
