Finnie: BMA report backs up Lib Dem community healthcare calls

11.02.44am GMT Wed 10th Dec 2008

Commenting on the BMA Scotland report, The Quality and Outcomes Framework: modernising healthcare delivery and improving the management of patients with long term conditions’, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

“I am pleased that the report shows that GPs working in communities across Scotland are making life easier and more bearable for patients with long term conditions.

“Helping patients manage their conditions at home keeps them out of hospital. This is not only better for patients’ welfare, but is a much better use of valuable NHS resources.

“The BMA’s report backs up Liberal Democrat calls for most healthcare to be delivered in the community.”
